ORIGINAL SPIRULETTEN - 1700 PELLETS
The green gold from the lake … the turquoise wonder … the green power plant of nature … a gift of god … the pure energy of life … stored sunlight … —behind all these slogans, an inconspicuous, only 0.3 mm small turquoise micro algae hides - its botanical name is “Spirulina platensis”.
After the rediscovery of the unique micro alga approximately 40 years ago, it has started an unparalleled conquest of the world—from Japan to the U.S. to Europe. Today, it enjoys a cult status for millions of health-conscious people. The reason is obvious: Of all approximately 30,000 algae, which live on our planet, the spiral micro alga Spirulina platensis is probably the most exceptional natural source of nutrition that has ever been discovered. By now, no seed, plant, or other nutrient was found, which offers such a comprehensive combination of natural substances. A single Spirulina pellet (we lovingly call them “Spiruletten”) mother nature has combined—believe it or not—over 4000 different natural compounds. Incredible, isn’t it?! By the way—Spirulina is not a marine alga. It grows in mineral lakes. This is the reason, why the iodine content of Spirulina is exceptionally low.
Very remarkable about Spirulina is primarily the noteworthy amount of protein, more precisely the amount of essential or vital amino acids (components of protein). Generally, meat, fish, poultry, and dairy products are known as main sources of protein or amino acids. But Spirulina really excels as protein source, compared with the above—it consists of up to incredible 65% of protein. Our body thankfully accepts this notable protein content—because it mainly consists of water and protein (disregarding the annoying fat for some of us). The organism needs protein to build any cell and to produce hormones, enzymes, and antibodies.
But mother nature has combined a plethora of other fascinating substances in Spirulina. So the turquoise alga is one of the richest natural sources of beta-carotene—which the body transforms into the required vitamin A. Spirulina provides fourteen times the beta-carotene, compared with the same amount of carrots.
Furthermore, Spirulina was found to contain 10 different vitamins, whereof in particular vitamin B12 and pantothenic acid are noteworthy. This plethora of vitamins is combined with an incredibly wide range of different minerals and trace elements. Spirulina platensis contains 7–8% minerals, whereby the impressive amount of ferric is particularly noteworthy. Furthermore, it contains calcium, potassium, sodium, and magnesium. As trace elements, copper, manganese, selenium, zinc, and chromium were found.
Our body needs, like the amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, which it cannot produce endogenously, certain vital polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are also called “essential” fatty acids. Even though Spirulina has a fat content of only 3–4%, the share of polyunsaturated fatty acids is remarkable 43%. They include, amongst others, linoleic acid and linolenic acid, which were found, besides other essential fatty acids, in Spirulina platensis.
The unusually strong turquoise color of the Spirulina micro algae is, amongst others, caused by the pigment chlorophyll. Compared with other plants, Spirulina contains approximately the triple amount of chlorophyll. Its content is even significantly higher than that of the wheat and barley grass—the land plants with the highest content of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is such an interesting and fascinating substance, that already in 1915 Prof. Richard Willstätter was awarded the Nobel Prize for discovering the working principle of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is structurally related to the human blood pigment hemoglobin, but the latter contains ferric as central ion instead of magnesium.
You see—the little turquoise algae offers our organism not only some “nutrient chords”, but a complete symphony of different natural substances. It is therefore finally the unique total mixture of all the contained individual compounds, which defines the special feature of the alga Spirulina platensis and makes it unique.
This is also the reason, why meanwhile even the NASA and the soviet space agency have discovered Spirulina and evaluate this incredible micro alga. For decades, astronautic research is searching for a food concentrate, which supplies the body with many important and different nutrients and energy. Without success for a long time. Now NASA evaluates, if algae farming on a small scale could be the nutritional basis for long-term stay in space.
And actually there are few food items, which are that universal. But attention: with this little power alga, there are big differences in quality—depending on where it grew and how it was processed. Our Spiruletten® each contain 400 mg of highest quality Spirulina platensis micro algae. And only Spirulina! You will not find any fillers or additives. The cultivation takes place in our sun farm in China, which is certified according to ISO 9001. The water, which feeds our micro algae, exclusively comes from a well, which is 125 meters deep and far away from any civilization. So we can ensure that our Spiruletten® fulfil the highest quality standards. Every single batch is additionally evaluated for microbiology and heavy metal content by an independently accredited test laboratory. Other advantages of our Spiruletten® are:
- optimum light and temperature conditions
- optimum time of harvest in the early morning
